From johnhall at melbpc.org.au Tue Jul 19 19:36:26 2011 From: johnhall at melbpc.org.au (John Hall) Date: Wed, 20 Jul 2011 09:36:26 +1000 Subject: [Video] Final Video Production SIG Meeting next Monday 25th July at 7:00 p.m. (NO Beginners Meeting). Message-ID: <001001cc466c$ad606610$08213230$@melbpc.org.au> It is with much regret that I have to announce that the last ever SIG Meeting of the Video Production SIG will be on next Monday evening at the Moorabbin Office at 7:00 p.m. I have been running this SIG since taking over from Albert Vanzet in 2001 and made the announcement at the January 2011 meeting that after 10 years at the helm I would like someone to take over from me. Unfortunately, despite asking the same question at the following 5 meetings it appears that no-one is prepared to do this. There is a possibility of establishing a new SIG in the Camberwell/Balwyn area and Richard Balsillie has written to the Melbourne PC Management Committee saying that he is willing to run this if the Committee is willing to fund the venue and equipment etc. If you would like to attend this SIG then please write to the Committee so that they can gauge whether this expenditure will be worthwhile. Richard has also kindly prepared the final presentation for Monday night's meeting which will show how he plans, researches, films current footage and puts together archival footage, photos and music to produce one of his excellent Genealogy based videos. After the break there will be our usual Question & Answer and What's New section followed by the (last?) chance to show your movies on the big screen in our "Members Videos" section. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the people who have assisted in the running of the Video SIG over the past 10 years, in particular the past and present members of the "Steering Group", the tea & coffee break volunteers and the signing in and registration volunteers without whom the SIG could not have achieved the success that it has over the past 10 years. (Please note, although the main Video SIG is closing the various Workshops such as Vegas, Premiere, Corel Ulead and Pinnacle Studio will still be run by their respective leaders for those of you who still want to attend a Video Meeting and the dates for these are in the PC Update Magazine). I Hope you can make it on Monday but if not I shall still remain an active member of Melbourne PC and will probably see you at some other SIG Meeting in the future.
